I completed my biology degree in Biology in Aachen, Germany in 1995. I completed my PhD and the John Innes Centre and UEA in Norwich in 1999 working on plant disease resistance and genome evolution in cereal genomes. After postdoc positions at the Max-Planck-Institute in Cologne and Freie Universitaet Berlin between 1999 and 2006. I joined the NIMR to work in Developmental Biology working with Xenopus tropicalis in the lab of Lyle Zimmerman before moving to the Lab of JP Vincent in 2013.
My current focus in the lab is to employ genetic modification tools to understand the mechanisms of apoptosis, in particular the regulation of reaper in the developing embryo.
